Staff from Pagan Osborne planted 300 trees for the Borders Forest Trust.

As part of the legal, financial and property specialist’s CSR programme, six people from the Edinburgh office spent the day in the Carrifran Wildwood which lies between Moffat and Peebles.

Dereen Mason who was part of the group said: “It was a fantastic day, in a beautiful location.

“We were delighted to be giving something back and it really felt like what we were doing was making a real difference.  George Moffat, who led the team on the day was a real inspiration and is very passionate about the work the charity is doing.  They are 12,000 trees away from planting 500,000 since the project began and our contribution on the day, although small, was another step towards achieving that goal.”

It will take three to five years for the trees to reach five feet and Dereen and the team plan to return in the future to see the progress of the ‘Pagan Osborne Corner’.

Dereen, along with Zara Mair, Neil Paterson, Ronnie Sembay, Nikki Swain and Allison Laird, completed the project during the charity day that all employees are granted by the firm to play an active role in the community.

Carrifran Wildwood is a 1600-acre valley in the Moffat Hills. The charity’s aim is to recreate forested wilderness in the area for the public to enjoy. The project has been ongoing for 10 years and welcomes all voluntary support from members of the public.
