Robert Crawford (16) of George Watson’s College won the Pagan Osborne Award for the most outstanding piece of work at the Edinburgh school’s end of term art exhibition.
His self-portrait was deemed to have the ‘X-factor’, displaying huge skill and ingenuity, beating many other exceptional paintings to take the cash and art supplies prize.
Pagan Osborne, which sponsored the exhibition showcasing work from S4, S5 and S6, presented the award at a private viewing for clients, guests and parents of the pupils.
Sue Calder, partner at legal, financial and property specialists, Pagan Osborne said:
“We were delighted to be associated with George Watson’s art department. The work produced by the students was outstanding and the standard and quality of the exhibition amazed everyone who attended.
“Robert’s work was executed with almost mathematical precision and unbelievably under exam conditions. The reason we chose his self-portrait above all others was that it demonstrated a clear process of research, planning and innovation. As solicitors, that is a mindset that we understand and admire.”
