Property expert comments on the news that international buyers have boosted sales of homes in Edinburgh.

“I believe money is coming into the UK from Europe where investors may be looking to protect their assets out with countries that are in trouble and into the Sterling which seems to be faring better than the Euro at the moment. The UK is regarded as somewhat a safe bet.
“Many property investors head for London first and then turn their attention north of the border and in particular Edinburgh.
“Schooling is also a massive factor and the private schools of Edinburgh continue to attract overseas pupils and families who want their children educated privately whilst living in the city at the same time rather than boarding.
“This upturn in activity will undoubtedly help house prices overall increase slowly but surely. This should be enough to tempt those who have been sitting on a pot of cash in rented accommodation back into the market creating some movement.”
