Fiona McDonald and Lianne Lodge addressed over 20 delegates at a seminar for the Legal Service Agency (LSA).
The pair discussed issues concerning elderly clients at the event held in Glasgow on Wednesday September 19.
Fiona, a partner at Pagan Osborne who was recently named in Private Client Practitioner magazine’s top 35 under 35, talked about estate planning for elderly clients covering issues such lifetime and death tax planning and wills.
Associate Lianne heads up Pagan Osborne’s lateryears service and is a member of the Solicitors for the Elderly. She spoke to delegates about incapacity issues such as the powers of attorney and guardianships.
“With an ageing population, supporting elderly clients and their families is becoming an increasingly important part of practicing private client law and it is essential practitioners have a sound and broad understanding of the issues. Fiona and I were delighted to be asked to share some of our experiences and knowledge of this area with the LSA delegates.”
Lianne and Fiona both also tutor at the University of Edinburgh, Fiona on taxation and Lianne on private client.
The LSA is a legal educator through its publications and seminars and source of legal research, advice and representation for disadvantaged people.
