Protecting the future and staying close together are themes that run through the lives of three generations of the Mansbridge family.
Before Richard Mansbridge’s father died, he had set up a trust in his Will to provide a life time income for his wife, Elizabeth, Richard’s mother. Richard and his wife Deirdre have Wills, which they regularly update, and they have ensured that their children Rebecca (20) and Jamie (19) do the same.
The Wills put in place their wishes for the future. It is a pragmatic approach and one that has served the family well.
Richard and Deirdre moved to Scotland seven years ago, while his mother and sister Rosemary remained in the south east of England. As with many families the distance created raised questions about the importance of being together and supporting each other as they all grow older. So a few year later, Elizabeth and Rosemary followed Richard and Deirdre to Fife.
Throughout, all three generations of Mansbridges have had the trusted support of Pagan Osborne
“I went to university at St Andrews in the 70s and knew then that I would return to live. Pagan Osborne had organised my student accommodation, so when we returned, we used them again,” said Richard.
“They helped us when it became clear that my mother’s Trust was more complex than originally planned; they helped us all with our Wills and Powers of Attorney; with the conveyancing when we bought our home and they have given advice to our son about rental property in London. Jamie has even had work experience with Pagan Osborne.”
“We all love living in Fife” Richard adds. “It is important for us to be close, but still independent and Pagan Osborne has helped to get everything in order for my mother as well as for the rest of the family.”
As a firm, Pagan Osborne has evolved over 250 years in business, constantly learning to help different generations - often from the same family. With its roots in North East Fife it has a proud history, but remaining relevant has long been key to Pagan Osborne’s success.
Alistair Morris, CEO of Pagan Osborne said: “Our longevity gives us knowledge and understanding to help people with the practicalities of every different stage of life. Our values for supporting people in Fife are similar to those of any family and they help define who we are.”
