Coming from a farming family himself, Colin has a deep understanding of the legal issues affecting farmers and landowners.
Not only does this background make him extremely popular with his rural based clients, he is widely recognised as one of Scotland’s leading agricultural lawyers and is one of only a very small number to be accredited as a specialist in Agricultural Law by the Law Society of Scotland. In 2011, he was named Specialist Lawyer of the Year at the Scottish Legal Awards and was recommended for Agriculture and Estates work in the Legal 500 UK directory.
As well supporting his clients with expert advice on all aspects of agricultural law, Colin writes extensively on rural matters for a number of leading journals and is active in a wide variety of roles within the agricultural community including being legal advisor to the Tenant Farming Forum and a member of the Agricultural Law Association, the Royal Highland and Agricultural Society, the Scottish Auctioneers and Valuers Association. Pagan Osborne are also professional members of Scottish Land and Estates and the National Farmers Union.
On a personal note…
Favourite Film: Last of the Mohicans for the way it captures the atmosphere of early settlement in America and the effect it had on native Americans.
Hobbies: I only started skiing in my 30s but I’ve been hooked ever since. I also enjoy hillwalking in the Highlands and recreational cycling – without lycra!
Favourite Food: We found this lovely little restaurant in Burgundy that serves the most amazing authentic boeuf bourguignon (known as stew in Scotland!)… wonderful!!
